Many of you have written to us inquiring about the courses that we will be teaching in 2016, and on what levels of instruction.
During the 10-week course, beginning January 18, 2016, we offer three classes: beginning, intermediate, and advanced German in different class rooms. These levels correspond more or less to Goethe-Institut classifications A1-A2, A2-B1, and B1-B2. Each class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. We also have persons interested in C1-C2 instruction, and are putting together a course for that level, possibly at a different time and date. Several of you are interested in a conversational German class, and we will discuss with you possible dates and times.
On the first day of class we will check your proficiency with a short written and oral placement test to ensure that you will be placed at the appropriate level. You will meet your teacher and get to know your fellow students. You will start using the learning materials that same day.
In order to help us organize the first class, please register now. You can register directly on our website at http://germansouthwest.org/2016-course-registration/ .
We’ll see you on January 18, 2016, (10:00 a.m. for the morning course, 6:30 p.m. for the evening course) at the American Red Cross Building, 2700 Southwest Freeway (at Kirby), Houston, TX 77098. If you can, it would be helpful if you were to arrive a few minutes early to facilitate check-in on the first day.
We wish you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!
