Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program: Apply today for a scholarship to study abroad in Germany – it is a life-changing opportunity!
Are you aware of the Congress-Bundestag Youth exchange (CBYX) program? Scholarships are provided for eligible high school students to spend an academic year attending a German school while living with a host family.
ABOUT
The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program was started in 1983 by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag. The initiative is designed to strengthen ties between the two countries. Since then more than 24,000 students participated in the program and returned with an expanded global perspective and awareness of the other culture.
Evan Anderson is one of these students:
“Therefore, I try to bring the German perspective into the discussion in many of my college courses, serving as a sort of ambassador for German culture in the United States.”
The goal of the program is to create an unforgettable, life-changing experience that offers its participants a very exclusive view into the German heart and way of life. It is not only about learning about German life and culture; it is about experiencing it.
At the same time, it is a great and honorable opportunity to represent the United States. Participants are supposed to serve as “youth ambassadors” while participating in educational, cultural and political events in Germany, including receptions and meetings with government officials.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
CBYX participants attend various pre-departure activities in the U.S. in order to prepare for their year abroad. Upon arrival in Germany, students begin language introduction courses and orientation classes.
The program provides an experienced network of support through reputable international exchange organizations, field staff, volunteers and carefully selected host families.
