30 Jahre Deutsche Einheit – 30 Years German Unification – Let’s Have a Party!
Workshop for teenagers between 10 and 16 years
The students will explore the historical background of German Unification through a variety of interactive activities, and experience how Germany celebrates October 3, Tag der Deutschen Einheit.

- Craft materials needed: white paper, a piece of cardboard (about 4 in x 4 in), scissors, ruler, glue stick, pencil, colorful crayons (at least: black, red and yellow)

When fall slowly turns into winter, and the cold and the early dark make the hours before bedtime so long and lonely, children in Germany bring some light and happiness into everybody´s lives when celebrating a festival of lights on St. Martin`s Day.
During this workshop children will hear the legends of St. Martin, discover the German traditions around this festivity and build their own St. Martin`s lantern.
Young participants will need a helping hand during the craft activity.

Advent, Advent, ein Lichtlein brennt! – Advent, a small but bright Light Emerges in the Dark of Winter!

Erst eins, dann zwei, dann drei, dann vier,
dann steht das Christkind vor der Tür!
Students are invited to get together into the spirit of Christmas and explore seasonal traditions of German speaking cultures with lots of playful activities. As a little helper of the “Weihnachtsmann” and the “Christkindl,”, they will make a small Christmas present.
Younger children will need a helping hand during the craft activity.
