German Language Classes for Adults

Currently all of our adult German language classes are held ONLINE, with the exception of the pilot program mentioned below. We may offer additional in-person classes from time to time, and will notify everyone on our email and face book list. Social distancing, mask, and hygiene guidelines as published by a government agency or by us will still have to be followed.
For all of our out-of-town and out-of-state students – we will continue our online classes for you, even if we will be back to in-person classes.

Online Classes. All online classes are held via Zoom.  You will need access to a computer, laptop, tablet, or phone connected to the internet.  If you have not downloaded Zoom, you can do so at zoom.us, or if you are outside the U.S., at the Zoom website for your country.

In-Person Classes. Currently there are in-person classes scheduled at the HLK (see above).

Proficiency Levels.  We teach all levels of proficiency, corresponding to the Goethe-Institut designations:  A1.1, A1.2, A1.3 – A2.1, A2.2, A2.3 – B1.1, B1.2, B1.3 – B2.1, B2.2, B2.3 – C1 and C2.  The objectives and contents of these courses are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).  Our students often have different levels of experience in the German language.  In order for proper placement of each student, we determine the level of proficiency during a special testing day or on the first day of a course, and form the classes accordingly.

Instruction Materials We use instruction material used by Goethe-Instituts world-wide, as well as some universities. You may be informed upon registration of any required books or course materials you must purchase, or materials will be made available to you in class. Please be sure to get the correct edition for class.

Discounts. Returning students receive a discount of ten percent for in-person classes, and there usually is an early registration discount for each session (see below).

Cancellation. We reserve the right to cancel a course that does not have the requisite number of students enrolled. If a class is canceled, refunds will be issued to enrolled students.

Corporate Classes.  We also offer classes to your employees at your facilities at your convenience. Please contact Angelika at angelika@germansouthwest.org or 713-822-4257 for more information.

Private Tutoring.  We offer private tutoring from our highly qualified instructors on an hourly time basis in packages of ten hours per purchase.  Please contact Angelika at angelika@germansouthwest.org or 713-822-4257 for more information.
